Active Transportation and Safe Streets
In a city as compact as ours, residents shouldn’t have to rely on cars to run all of their errands or seek out attractive public spaces. Emeryville should be the most walkable and bikeable community in the East Bay. I applaud strides the city has made during the past few years to install raised bike lanes and traffic diverters, narrow streets to lower traffic speeds, and enhance connections along the Emeryville Greenway. We need to continue to invest in bike and pedestrian infrastructure and preserve critical regional active transportation routes.
- Expanding Raised and Protected Bike Lane Network: Prioritize funding and execution for the preservation and expansion of Emeryville’s nationally recognized bike network.
- Ensuring Children’s Safety: Hire a Safe Routes to School coordinator to ensure our kids can get to school safely and parents can have peace of mind.
- Sensible Mode Splits: When you try to design every road for every use, you end up building a transportation network that doesn’t work for anyone. I support high-quality protected bike and pedestrian networks, and well-designed arterial routes that keep our transit and local commerce moving safely.
